    Volunteering in School
by Lori Bradstock - Monday, 2 October 2017, 4:48 PM

If you are considering being a volunteer in any of our 3 schools, you will need to complete a Criminal Record Check. This can now be done online, and takes only a few days to get back.  Information on how to apply for your check is available through the Raft River office. Please contact Mrs. Bradstock through her email: lbradstock@sd73.bc.ca  to get the address and access code. We will work on getting a link onto this website as well, but you will always need the access code to complete the process. Thank you for helping out in our schools!

    Orange Shirt Day
by Lori Bradstock - Tuesday, 26 September 2017, 11:25 AM

ORANGE SHIRT DAY - All Children Matter
Orange Shirt Day is a legacy of the St. Joseph Mission (SJM) residential school commemoration event held in Williams Lake, BC, Canada, in the spring of 2013.  It grew out of Phyllis' story of having her shiny new orange shirt taken away on her first day of school at the Mission, and it has become an opportunity to keep the discussion on all aspects of residential schools happening annually.

The date was chosen because it is the time of year in which children were taken from their homes to residential schools, and because it is an opportunity to set the stage for anti-racism and anti-bullying policies for the coming school year.  It also gives teachers time to plan events that will include children, as we want to ensure that we are passing the story and learning on to the next generations.

Orange Shirt Day is also an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools and communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.

    School Start Up September 2017
by Lori Bradstock - Tuesday, 22 August 2017, 12:02 PM

Welcome back to the start of a brand new year! Please note the information below regarding the first week back.

Students return to school on Tuesday, September 5th. This is a short day, and buses will run 2 hours later than normal in the morning and 2 hours earlier in the afternoon. Doors will open for students at 10:30 and they will be dismissed at 12:40. The first day will begin with a short whole school assembly in the gym at 10:40. Parents are welcome to attend the assembly if they would like to.

After Tuesday, we will go back to normal bus and school times except for our Kindergarten students. Parents of our K students will be contacted during the week of August 28th, to set up orientation meetings and to share what their start up schedule will look like. If your K student is already registered, please wait for that call. If you need to register new Kindergarten students (or other new students), please drop by the office at Raft River during the week of August 28th to do so.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone very soon!
